Formalities for entry and stay

Renewal of authorizations for stay

Your Certificat d'acceptation du Québec (CAQ) and Study Permit is valid for a limited period. You must therefore renew these authorizations if you wish to extend your studies or change your level of studies. We recommend you apply for renewal three months prior to the expiration date of your authorization for stay.

In order to meet the Québec Minister of Education's requirements, your authorizations for stay must be valid for at least the full duration of the current trimester. You may thus have to begin the procedures more than two months before the expiration of your documents, if they expire during the course of a trimester.

Please remember that your papers must be in order with both the Québec government and the Canadian government.

The forms for renewal are available on the two government Web sites:

Web site of Québec immigration authorities
Web site of Canadian immigration authorities

It is very important to submit a copy of your renewed authorizations to the Bureau des étudiants internationaux.
